Life

So life's been pretty crazy. So crazy in fact that I need to take a few things out of it so that I can keep it together. I guess it's not that hard to assume that dA is one of those things. While I absolutely adore this community, right now I need a break. I'm not sure if it'll be long, short or somewhere in between, but I hope doing so will give me a chance to catch up with other things. I will be back sometime, so no fear. In the meantime, have a joke and some art.

The Turtle

A man strides into a bar wearing a long trench coat and carrying a closed box. He walks up to the bar places the box upon it. He then opens the trench coat, revealing not only that he is buck naked but also very erect.

He then opens the box and removes a large turtle, at least a good ten pounds or so in weight. He brings it near his pecker and when it gets in reach it clamps on to his pecker. He then releases the turtle from his hands, and it hangs above the stools that line the bar. He walks up the length of the stools and back again, not saying a word.

When he reaches the point from which he started, he smacks the turtle on the head, causing it to release his pecker from its grasp. He puts it back in the box, closes his trench coat, and turns to the rest of the patrons of the bar.

"I'll give any man who can do that $1000," he says.

Then, from the back of the room, a really scrawny, dorky, feeble looking guy stands up and says, "I'll do it... as long as you promise not to hit me on the head when I'm done."

Updates

Hi all.

If you're following this journal from my last one, I talked about the conclusion of Artisan Crafts month and how there were going to be 10 people receiving 1 month subscriptions for the work that they did helping out, critiquing, etc. Here is the list in no particular order: *Osa-Art-Farm, *cl2007, *sleepinglynx, *deabusamor, *lachrymosity, =zlyoga, *lisaluera, ~flutterbyfae, ~flufdrax and *Ninina-nini. Hope you enjoy those! There was also a Fella Plushie to be handed out, and instead of keeping it for myself, I decided to give it to a special person who will remain unknown. It'll be a fun surprise. Thanks to all of these people again!

The past week I have surprisingly had quite a bit of free time. The free time that I had on dA I spent catching up with things. I hate to admit it but I really am the world's most horrible procrastinator, so having some free time to sit down and think of my priorities is great. Got some DDs suggested, some time management created, and updated many things. It seems the only thing I still have yet to get to is my devWatch. I've become a lurker in there, but I don't mind. The art keeps my speechless anyway. There is a contest that I have in the works, so keep your eyes peeled for that. Today, one of my best friends on here got a DD. I'm really, really happy to see her get one because she really is quite talented. If you're not sure what I am talking about, it's =PootPoot's Goldiwhat? prose piece. It's completely hilarious, so if you have some time go and read it. I've been trying to get this one DD'd for a long time, so give it some credit. In the somewhat near future you can look forward to seeing the return of my Animals, Plants & Nature features here in my journals.

I hope that you all have a truly wonderful and fascinating weekend.

:peace:

Updates

Hi all.

Artisan Crafts Month has come to an end, and I am pleased with the feedback, results, community spirit, and awareness that was raised during January. There will be subscription prizes handed out to those who participated a great deal, as well as a possible Fella Plushie given away. Still deciding who those should go to, so stay tuned!

I feel like I've been slacking on comments, featuring, and the like, but I have good reason. A lot of crap is going on in my life right now (when is it ever good in life?), and it's really keeping me away from dA. You see - my parents are in the middle of a divorce, finals were a week ago, friends've been bringing the drama llama around, yadda yadda. Been babysitting a hell of a lot, too, helping my mom out and all. Lots of stress-inducing things going on (even music seems so stress me out!) - So, this is my advanced apology and resolution that I won't let it get to me, and I'll be sure to give the love back to the community that it deserves. And by the way - you guys submit some awesome artwork every day of the week. Can't wait to start digging through my devwatch again!

When I do get the chance to get on the computer, I change my wallpaper. It's become an obsession quite honestly! I've always been a fan of the customization > wallpaper gallery here on dA (there are some srs bsns talented artists there!), but didn't realize what my desktop was missing until I started downloading them. If you have a Desktop Wallpaper from dA on your computer right now, show me what it is!!

Artisan Crafts Month Directory

Journal Entry: Sun Jan 20, 2008, 8:23 AM
Artisan Crafts Month

Artisan Crafts Month has now concluded, so here is the complete directory of all of the news articles that were posted, and a short synopsis of what they entail.

Spotlight Articles

These articles were written in the hopes of spreading knowledge of the Artisan Crafts galleries, and to help involve the community more in the way the gallery is set up. Within these articles you can find descriptions of what should belong in the respective galleries, examples pieces that have been submitted to the galleries that highlight what belongs in them, and common miscategorized items that you should report so that we can help to keep the galleries clean.

Interview Articles

These articles were posted in hopes of spreading knowledge through interviews; in the process I got to meet and talk with quite a few of dA's top Artisans. Be sure to read these for wonderful insight, and great explanations on various Artisan Crafts related subjects.

Miscellaneous Articles

These articles were posted by deviants other than myself which were meant to help in the process of educating and helping. Take a look at these, as they are just as amazing as any!

I truly hope that Artisan Crafts was a magical time for you, and if it wasn't, go to Disney Land!!

********

I have a few things in mind that I would like. But really, what do you want? :)

For January, to bring in the new year, I'm going to be planning an event for Artisan Crafts. Not quite sure what everything is that I want to do, but I think it'll be great! I have lots of plans and hopes for 2008, and I think that it's going to be a good year. I hope it is, anyway. For all you, too!

I remember writing journals way back in January of this year, and reading some of them from that time has shown me how much I have changed ... I do not know if I have changed for the better, or the worst, but I know that I have changed. Maybe more on that later.

This is probably going to be my last journal until 2008, so I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season, enjoy the time with your friends, family and loved ones, and have a wonderful beginning to the new year!

this and that, but more of these

It is sometimes a good thing to reflect back on the past few months of your life, and think about how things have changed for you, or how you have changed yourself. When one does this they might remember things that they had forgotten; they might remember things that they didn't necessarily want to remember; more importantly, they see how far they've come and see how they can continue to move forward. This process of self-reflection is what I have been trying to do lately, and in doing so I have decided that my writing has suffered severely. I am going to be trying to write as much as possible now--as well as Read as much as possible (I need suggestions!)--and I am looking to dA for inspiration. Litmas has started, and I would really like to join in on this. It's fun, festive and most of all I need to do something constructive like this to get me back into my writing. The prizes aren't too shabby, either! ;]

On the dA front, there has been one thing in particular that I have been working on for the past few days. I'm not sure if I'm ready to say anything about it here yet, but maybe soon. All you seniors and staff who are reading this can check out what I'm talking about here. I know it's a little farfetched, but I do believe that it's a worthwhile read--no matter how long. ;] I've been trying to get back into the DD Suggestion game, like I've been saying for a while now. It takes a lot of time to find worthwhile suggestions, and I'm afraid that I just don't have that much time on my hands anymore. I have been trying to suggest things through =DailyDeviants, though. If you all are wanting to get a special someone featured somewhere, or have been eyeing an artist that you think deserves a feature, go ahead and suggest them. I am also looking for Miscellaneous Team Members over at DailyDeviants, so why not apply?

The Prints and Shop sections of deviantART have gotten a major redo, and I'm loving it!! Be sure you check out the easier functionality of these pages, and explore. You never know what artwork you may find that will be suitable to hang on your wall, or add to your Wishlist--after all it is the holiday season, and someone might be feeling generous. ;]

Speaking of Prints, here are the calendars that you guys suggested to me in my poll!

Check out the Official 2008 Calendar Feature!

And here are some of my favourite calendars!

And some great £deviantWEAR!
